Is most of this put on?   They take forever to figure out what the 'things' are...
To be honest, it was quite frustrating to watch, even though I watched the whole thing.

Competition?  Nope.  :P

Wow!

Dave. You better give up now. They are clearly experts and much much better than you at teardowns.

Yeah -- it can't really have taken them that long to realise that the big phone-shaped thing (that's displaying live data pulled from the internet) is probably a phone, can it?  But then on the other hand they appeared to be actually surprised about it, whereas a moment's thought would reveal that it makes a lot of sense compared to designing a bespoke system to do the same thing...

How much does that magazine cost?
Take my money dammit! A nice hackable Android phone would be fun - even if it is likely the bottom of the line model with a colour LCD.

Very surprised they couldn't find a way to hack a cheap photo frame - no need to have things like bluetooth and keyboard - I guess spinning a custom board with SIM card and LCD is too expensive for a small advertising project.

I don't recall where I read about this the other day, but I believe there were only 1000 units each in a couple of cities?

I think you had to be one of the lucky few in LA or NY only to get one.

And yes - the youtube comments are quite amazing.

You know, I found the woman in the presentation to sound more like she knew what she was talking about than the guy did, but she was getting trashed in many comments.   Sad.

You always have to disregard the ** comments on YT as they don't count,   but even then these guys got burned, classic!

Really?  All she did was repeat what Ulanoff was saying.  She said that the switch was a battery that was being fed by the bigger battery.  She also said that the CCD (camera) was being used to run the LCD screen.

For the Yanks - Ulanoff was the editor of PC Magazine when it was still being printed.

To her credit, there was a battery holder on the switch PCB, but it was obviously empty.  I shouted at my screen, but she didn't hear me.
