What to do with 1800 hard disks...?
« on: July 28, 2015, 09:35:25 pm »
Let's say someone gives you 1800 hard disk drives and a lot of time.... for example at December 24 when nobody is really working hard because most people are already in vacation.

This is what WE did a couple of years ago :-)  There are more videos from other years. Just look for "chrigel1234"

Cool!
Did someone ever attempt this with old PCs?

Or cheap chinese multimeters?  ;D

I think it would be quite hard with PCs. They stay pretty good with their big footprint.

But the video is very cool!

Well, unless each disk had a zettabyte of storage or so, I suspect it was much less than one yottabyte.

Since these were discarded hard disks, I'd assume they averaged in the range of a hundreds of gigabytes, or maybe much less, depending on when they were discarded.

Maybe a nano-yottabyte?  A few hundred pico-yottabytes?
