The 'Spring' connectors like in the video at 8:05 were my favorite at a kid!!  8)
Diagonal of 1x1 square = Root-2. Ok.

I always liked the concept of the first Dick Smith Funway set. It came in multikit form or just the book. The pages with schematics were "grid layout style". You cut or trace the schematics out and glue to a scrap of wood or cardboard then assemble. Aside from being easy to build, the circuits could be left assembled.

I like this form factor
No messy wires, everything is in neat boxes
And finished circuit looks like a circuit diagram  :-+

I had a 200 in 1 with springs in a wooden box rather than plastic, similar to the wooden one shown after 8:06

If anyone has a .pdf of the "World of Radio and Electronics" manual (or later reprints) let me know.

I've read the Science Fair 200 in 1 (from the 80's) it focuses on control and logic circuits towards the end, quite a variety of projects.

I had one of those wood cased ones too, and later several others with the spring connectors, I loved those things.

This probably is not what you wanted...  but I have a link here that may be of interest to many, anyway. That is for...

The "Volna" kit for a young radio designer looks at these bourgeois perversions with obvious disapproval:

P.S. List of Soviet DIY kits, in Russian.
