I own a Xiaomi RedMi Note 7. As with most Android phones, they promise the earth, but then deliver a 0.5 acre plot of wasteland. Now, there's a new update coming out - the Xiaomi fanboys are getting themselves as ridiculously hyped up as ever, but boy... the marketing page - who wrote this HILARIOUS, irrelevant, hyperbolic GUFF; trying to copy Apple, MUCH?  :-DD

https://en.miui.com

>> One of these VERY awkward, cheesy tagline on that page is: "Break the boundaries of space. Peer into the far corners of the universe"  :palm: :-DD

>> Oh wait, there's another tagline, further down... wait for it... "Nature is full of life" - truly, simply profound, such an observation is.

>> Hang on, THERE'S MORE... "Your device is a part of nature
All you have to do is look at your screen: blazing sun, soft breeze, and refreshing rain will be there.
Just like outside your window."

>> One final example, then I leave you to cringe with a visit of your own: "Uninstalling an app

One leaves. The rest say goodbye."

Erm, righty ho then... :/

Erm, what the; what does that have to do with a phone update? This lot have more cheese than Holland, more awkwardness than a room full of 14 year olds at a school disco. Wow... Apple at least release USEFUL FEATURES, and don't hire marketing goons to generate copy based on kids story books!

Maybe it's a Chinese/Indian thing (their main target demographic for these phones) - they're still learning how to market stuff well. One feels they pull random operatives off the production line, ask them to fill in a cursory quiz, then task them with writing marketing copy... or that's how it FEELS. LOL!

Its called marketing. The world is full of it. You too can reach your dreams if you just buy one of their products. Unfortunately, most people fall for this crap.

IBM has been doing cheesy ads for decades. Full of rhetoric with no substance. The ads are aimed at the technically illiterate. Their worst ad was on TV with a young Chinese girl who lived on a farm in a poor area of China who had an expensive IBM laptop to get ahead in life. She spoke with an American accent. The patronising, cultural insensitivity and ignorance by IBM was enough to make anyone vomit.

Yeah, I get that - I know marketing BS very well, but this is VERY childish, irrelevant, AWKWARD kiddy talk, and it seems no one outside China - maybe someone with age and experience, has been consulted to ask "How do you feel this comes across in Western markets; does it sound silly?"

I know marketing is a load of bollocks, but this is just... surreal.

is this thing supposed to be suitable for space vacuum and immune to solar flares or something?

i expect a full on tricoder with that kind of talk. maybe you can explore the universe a little bit with the crazy camera on the new iphone if you go out to a mountain peak

I like when marketing is creative and finds a new use for a product.. this does not sound like it at all.

You may just get one, and have it secretly log all your comms to "da kloud" too ;)

Urm, pardon me Mister marketing guru, but I was under the impression that ALL videos recorded fill the screen - and no, the limits of the video/photo frame ARE the barriers, or have you discovered infinite resolution technology, free from frames? LOL

The most hilarious part is they spelt it "animationg" - twice.
Also, "Phhysics".

This is supposed to be write only text, so they don't really care what it says, as long as it fills the page. You might be the only person who ever read it. Even the person who wrote it probably hasn't read it.

This shows they ONLY care about shifting SKU and generating new lines, and not one iota about their reputation or credibility. Sad sad sad sad saddos.
