Automated translation from Chinese of datasheets and OCR?

I am wondering if anybody has done anything with automated translation on the fly. Lets say that I am surfing the Chinese web. Browsers that support Google Translate well work okay for me but they dont translate bitmaps. They are getting better, though. It would be nice to have a better way to translate stuff, IMHO. Specifically from Simplified and Taiwanese Chinese. Because this is mostly for electronics and similar stuff (online shopping - to check out stuff on sites like taobao. )

Yes, I have Chinese friends but I don't want to bother them over stupid favors like this.

Google Translate can sometimes handle PDFs.

I use capture2text for the OCR and a Translator browser plugin to do the translation. The OCR is handy for things like windows error messages too.
