I can see them dancing casually over the horizon now before slaughtering us all with their limbs crudely replaced with machine guns after breaking free from their lives of servitude.

In the meantime, I'd love to see the blooper reel :) Amazing work! I wonder if they used one of the wheeled robots as the camera dolly.

I want to see the outtakes from the program development, bet there were some spectacular crashes.

Also, worth noting that there were actually a fair number of cuts in that video, it looks mostly continuous due to clever editing but the thing was probably put together from multiple takes.

The Boston Dynamics bot videos are too many and sort of ruined the wow factor now at least for me.
But Bosstown Dynamics is still my favorite.  :-DD

Watch carefully, the first 1minute and 54 seconds is 1 single cut.
After that, the short cuts/clips begin for the last 60 seconds.
Basically ~65% 1 big cut.

While Boston Dynamics’ robots are technical marvels, holy cow do they live right smack in the middle of the uncanny valley...

Yes, a lot of their demos do seem to give off that eerie type feeling known as the 'uncanny valley'.  This one particular seems to hit it well.

At least it’s merely “uncanny valley” and not the sheer premonitions-of-Black-Mirror horror of their earlier robots like BigDog:

Here is how they did it, well, partly...

The precision of spot's rotational jumps has amazing consistency...
Not only the rotation angle, but the fact is stays centered at 1 location while doing so and keeps balance while smoothly connecting the jumps.

Their motion is beginning to get really smooth.

like 5 years ago I thought they would have Cylon centurions guarding kabul airport, guess it did not go so fast. Boston Dynamics is now owned by Hyundai.. I assume they are marketing it for less aggressive purposes now (not like the robocop 2014 movie intro)
