Word is the ARRL's ISP was hacked and that took down all or most of the ARRL's internal systems, including their phone system and the Logbook of the World.

It's been over a week now and the LoTW and other ARRL systems are still down.

It is 2weeks already..
The lost LoTW would make hams pretty unhappy.. Looks like ransomware, otherwise to restore from a backup cannot take 2 weeks, imho.

You never know how good your backup are until things go wrong.

I remember RAYNET in the UK had some issues a few years back and when they tried to bring things online they broke, I suspect because the systems were patches on top of patches and running it on a new system just made it fall over. They have then taken the opportunity to rebuild the systems on a new base.

ARRL and LoTW might need a bit of time to put stuff back together in a way that it won't get hacked while at the same time improving the underlying hardware/software.

You never know how good your backup are until things go wrong.

If that's the way you handle backups, you're setting yourself up for failure.

When I make a backup, I immediately restore that backup to a test system to ensure the backup is valid. Everyone with data they place any value on should be doing this.
