I was hoping someone maybe able to share information on this senor Before I attempt to reverse engineer it.

I am guessing it is a food temperature sensor for the auto-reheat and auto-cook features.

It is 3 pin with a small hole in the front face.

I have spent sometime searching and only found a similar image in a microwave parts kits that did not list the parts or what machine it was for.

My next move if no info is to attempt to power it up and probe and decode the data. (Assuming it transmits data and not simply an analog device)

Edit: It maybe a humidity sensor. However, searching "microwave oven humidity sensor" yields images that are similiar but different enough to make me think it is not a humidity sensor.

Where is it located in the microwave oven? I don't think it's a temperature sensor or even humidity sensor.

Microwaves don't directly measure the temperature of food during their "sensor" defrost/reheat functions. It relies on the detection of humidity/steam and pre-defined programs.

Apparently, some use a microphone to detect when popcorn starts to stop popping. I think the humidity-based ones rely on some standard bag size because the mini bags burn in my oven, ie not enough steam is released for the oven to consider it "done".
