its causing a stir in scientific community apparently 0o  |O  :bullshit:  :scared:

the students fail to account for all factors which would prevent the seeds from growing like water, light, soil ph, etc, so its not a very well controlled experiment.
i'd have to see the experiment conducted in an actual lab with proper controls and settings.
But lets stop right there: What does Wi-Fi emit? 2.4ghz Radio Waves (Electromagnetic waves)
To be blunt: 2.4ghz, 5 Ghz, even higher frequency electromagnetic waves surround you every day, yet plants carry on. So I think the students are missing something here.

Cool... so rather than wasting time and effort pruning, mowing and weeding, all I really need to do is improve the wi-fi coverage in my garden? Win/win situation!

we all know that the fact you are measuring something influences the experiment.

I say it's because they tried measuring the impact of wifi on plants , that the plants didn't grow. if they would have subject the plants to wifi signals without measuring there would have been no difference. You can try to prove Heisenberg wrong....

Don't bother wasting your collective breath on this 'news item'.

The students' original school report is so shock full of basic errors, that it is completely worthless from a scientific point of view (yep, I can read Danish). In fact I am tempted to believe it was written by 9th graders without too much science experience...

The only reason this news came to prominence, is because some journalist had an axe to grind with someone or other, and did absolutely zero fact checking before running it in the national news in Denmark.

The students literally don't even seem to be aware that the 'radiation' they are so worried about, is radio waves, plain and simple. In fact, from their original photos my suspicion is that the two groups of plants were grown in two separate rooms, class rooms to be exact. If they were worried about the danger of prolonged exposure to the 'radiation' - which they directly state in their introduction they set out to prove is dangerous(!) - then it stands to reason the pupils may have attempted to vacate the 'danger room' as much as possible. Less students in room => less carbon dioxide exhaled => less growth.

Sounds to me like a golden opportunity to sell foil sheets to gardeners.

It's a conspiracy ! The plants are trying to subvert the advancement of human civilization by blocking our communication pathways !
Death to all plants ! we need more vegetarians.

Me, i'ma gonna roast some chicken and prepare a nice salad. That'll teach those pesky plants to mess with us humans

Tell that to the Cercopia Peltata growing outside, it is determined to grow up into the cellular antenna on the roof, even though we trimmed it back down to a 2m stump last year, it has put on a growth spurt and is now over 6m tall

Now, now.  Napalm would be a little hard on the building, don't you think?  How about a nice mixture of glyphosate, triclopyr and 2,4-D?

Microwaved water does kill plants! Try it... put a jug of water in the microwave, wait until it starts boiling, then carefully remove the jug and pour its contents over a houseplant. Repeat if necessary, a brown, shrivelled result is guaranteed.

sigh, not more junk science.
I have been  trying to reason with the people that think the smart meter they put on the house is giving them cancer and watching everything they do inside the home, they will love to read about the plants, will re-enforce their beliefs. Sometimes it is best to let them keep believing it and move on.

Oh my -insert deity name here-  what if the smart meters were installed by the plants to give us cancer in retribution for feeding the microwaved water ! The plot thickens ...

Ima gonna grab me a bag o chips and a soda . This is gonna get good . I can feel it.

The correct test would be to "insert cress seed into router and then liberally water"  :-DD then see if the seeds are killed by the wifi.
I think we should all place some seeds next to the router and see what happens and then compare notes, I think that most will grow.

This explains why the potted plant sitting right next to my wifi router is dying!

I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that I completely forgot it even existed and haven't watered it in months...

soon in theater's near you : Attack of the 6ft tall mutated water-cress from linksys!

i want an experiment done in those wrt54 routers. To see if they plants behave differently when the router is running stock firmware or the linux based openWRT ... that could be interesting.

Obviously the Linux exposed plants would grow faster and stronger, but would spend more time fighting amongst themselves over kernel preference.

I would be willing to bet there will be plants around a long time after humans are extinct, in spite of the wifi.
