Hello!

ALDI, the German discount store, is currently selling "T-SHIRT TRANSFER PAPER" - 10 sheets for GB£3.99.  Back in 2010, I see they were just £1.99    *sigh!*

See: http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_25856.htm

Two different sorts of transfer paper are for sale: for light T-shirts and for dark T-shirts.

The wording on the packet reads:

Quote
"Print and then transfer your print to your T-Shirt!"
"165 gsm"
"Quick Drying!"
"Iron on, Peel off, Photo Paper Transfers Images onto Cotton Fabrics!"

The paper seems to work well on fabric, but has anyone tried it for transferring artwork to a PCB for etching?

If so, do you have any advice, please?

Cheers, a

usually these sorts of things have an all-over film that transfers to the t-shirt, rather than transferring just the toner (especially if they're designed for inkjets.)  Might be good for front panels and silkscreen layers.

Aha!  Thanks for the tips, westfw and wilfred.  I bought a couple of packs of the transfer paper, so I will try it out and report back with my success (or not!)

cheers, a

I'm having good results with "the glossy paper for digital colour laser systems" by mondi (www.mondigroup.com)

This guy has gotten good results using the brochures that Lidl and Aldi have stacked next to the door for free... http://www.hw2sw.com/2011/09/29/how-to-make-pcbs-at-home-the-toner-transfer-method/

(note that "T-shirt transfer paper" and "PCB toner transfer paper" are entirely different things.  The latter works only in laser printers and has a bunch of substitutes (glossy photo paper, clay-coated magazine paper, label backing paper.)  But I don't think the T-shirt paper is one of the viable alternatives (nor do those other things work for transferring to T-shirts.)

Hello !
I am a part/member of hw2sw.com and as the user "krivx" said the lidl brochures worked for me extremely well.
I have tested a lot of glossy papers without any good results. The lidl brochures worked way better.
I am using this method for over a year now.
The paper thickness is the key for good toner transfering. Since this solution is free in Europe i do not see any reason why someone at least not test it ;)
Email me or use pm if you have any problems.

Have a nice day !
