I receive the package today! The box was in pretty bad condition! Extremely dirty and all the corners were smashed like someone was using it like a chair!

The delivery boy informed me that the package is identified as "Damaged in Transit" (like I didn't know that already). I open the package with him in order to identify if I will accept it or not. He was very polite and was standing there (for something like 15 minutes) without any complain. All the internals were in perfect condition...  so, I put my acceptance signature!

Farnell, was amazing! They reply back to all my mails in less that 2 hours. They haven't specified 100% but more or less they told me that if the package is in bad condition and I don't want to accept it they will send me another one for free. Of course, the first one will go back with UPS... again without to pay anything.

That sounds about right, and hey that is good news!

You know, I had this "Notify" me when it was updated, and when the email showed up  :-DD  it said "UPS: Package damaged in transit"  I said out loud "DAMMIT"  only then to realize it was this forum.      :-DD

Hmm...casting my mind back to the 70s and 80s, I remember lines such as 'allow 28 days for delivery' and 'delivery only 19.95' (for small items). I don't think so much stuff got destroyed back then either.

Maybe the couriers are working at the limit of what's humanly possible, at a cost to our precious goods. One of our regular delivery folks has 23 penalty points for speeding. He starts at 6am, finishes at 7 to 8pm and does 90miles per hour in between, of course he doesn't care what's in the box it just goes in the van as fast as possible. Usually in the same manner as you might pass a rugby ball, except no-one to catch it.

But he does get it there next day for under £5

Seeing the videos it is indeed revolting, but for the package to arrive like that you can't rule out that something terrible may have happened - a truck accident for example. Just think that for you it is a package, but for someone else it may well have been worse (although chances are minimal, I have seen that happen with couriers before).

That brings the castaway movie to mind... Obviously that is a huge stretch!

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

Speaking of being pissed off by deliveries... today was one of those days.
Two parcels arrived. Both screwups.

First was some DRAM to upgrade a PC. Ebay item 221257676669, listed as 4 x 1GB PC2-6400 800 MHz DDR2.
Urrgh! They arrived wrapped in plain bubble wrap inside a paper envelope! See pic. Worst possible way to pack static-sensitive parts. Well, they survived and work, amazingly. BUT.... they are the wrong ones. Actually 4 x PC2-5300, not the 4 x PC2-6400 listed. That means they are 667MHz not 800MHz. Crap. Now since the seller claims he had the ones listed due to upgrading a PC, how come he had even slower ones lying around? It's going to be interesting to see his reply, and whether we get into an 'argument' about which one of us swapped them.

Second was two service manuals from Manuals Plus in USA. One turns out to be a poor photocopy - not as listed. A manual I've been seeking for years. So that's another huge stuff around coming up. Dammit.

A manualmonger sent you a shitty Xerox of a manual? How completely and utterly unsurprising.

I have had 99% bad experiences with these companies.

I have to admit Manuals Plus have always been very good for me in the past. They try pretty hard. This time... it turns out that was the only copy they had. Just now they offered to totally refund the entire order cost (two manuals & shipping) but I turned it down. The other manual is fine, and the CS-2110 (the photocopy) seems to be very rare.  Disappointing, but I can live with it. They did drop the price originally, when they saw it wasn't original.

Oh well.
I'll save my rage for the dickhead who sent me the wrong DRAM, thus holding up that project for days more.
