Russian Electricians most Dangerous I thought I was Bad
nothing I did as a kid was as bad as this! I used 32 volts and 12 volts to short circuit and start fires but never 240 volts.
in Russia the standard voltage is 220 V and the frequency is 50 Hz. so how do this lot manage to keep alive.

GEEZ!  No eye/face protection, wearing SANDALS!  I suspect vodka must have been involved in this!

Mains, when handled with awareness isn't anywhere near as scary as some people on here will lead you to believe. You can't let it sneak up on you unexpectedly though, because unexpected encounters, or negligent encounters can very dangerous though.  But also the perspective of a lot of people is for making goods that will be used by consumers, and you can't assume an IQ much higher than room temperature, so if the mains gets out of its cage, there will most certainly be a unexpected encounter.

That being said, the stuff the Kreosan guys do leans very far towards negligent and away from aware, but they have demonstrated enough knowledge in their videos that your have to assume the at least know of the risks.

Yes they definitely know the science behind it and do a good job making it entertaining.

Unless you wrap all your fingers in one hand around a neutral wire and the all fingers in the other hand around live, it's unlikely to get yourself killed from mains. And the neutral and live conductors must be something thick so that when your muscles contract, you should not be able to release your grip.

I have three phase machines in my home shop with plugs that have reversible pins. So to reverse the motor, you unplug the machine, reverse the two pins and then plug it back in. Every now and then I try to reverse the pins while 380V is still plugged in, and all that happens is a good scare and lots of cursing.
Real programmers use machine code!
