TIG welding seems like a nightmare.
Never heard of brazing aluminum. Sounds more tricky than my skill supports. Anyway, TIG or brazing would never look factory and likely worse than just leaving it broken off.
Take a look through this repair I did a few years ago now on a HP 740B handle. Was done at the time with a $6 butane torch. https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/hewlett-packard-740b-dc-standard-digital-voltmeter-(and-740a)/msg1419955/#msg1419955The Key is really prep, pre and post heating. Even owning a good Tig welder I would still give this a go first with the now better Propane torch I own.

(You can thank Bean for this being in my possession.)
Impressive work. I don't think I could get a repair that looked that good with sufficient penetration to retain any usable strength. Nonetheless, I may have a replacement on the way and might try to make the repair.
