Free three channel power supply 2x30V + 5V
« on: January 31, 2019, 01:14:42 am »
I got this power supply from a failed automation lab in the area.    I have used it very little.   It is a MASTECH HY-3003-3.  Heavy as a truck.

Let's start with free to anyone in the central Minnesota area.

Attached picture.   I have a manual I found years back, but it exceeds max size.  If interested send me text message with email and I will forward it.

I think this is it http://hades.mech.northwestern.edu/images/f/f7/Mastech_power_supply_manual.pdf

That bears a striking resemblance to a Tektronix PS280 power supply.

That wouldn't be cheap. The manual says it is approximately 10kg just for the PSU.

I weighs around 23 pounds.    I suspect you could get a new one for what you would be paying for packing/shipping.

Any one interested in or around the Twin Cities?   I will be going to the cities in a couple of weeks.

I always had my suspicion that Tektronix was just rebranded Chinesium.

Or the other way around?
Would be nice to see the insides.

Funny, I have that power supply as a GW Instek GPC-3030D.

The overload LED is if you push the 5V past 3A it lights up.  (since there is no meter attached to it, it's the only indication for the 5V.)

The bad part about this supply (which I learned the hardway) is the manual states that using it in parallel or series they recommend actually physically attaching wires after setting the buttons.  If you don't, it can damage the unit if you push the supply too hard through the internal series/parallel connections.

*******(I just saw the same instructions in the Mastech manual in the notes section.)  Take heed to this warning...  It will fry the slave where you loose control of it.  It's on my healing bench to get fixed.....
