Want to buy or have a HP 5086-7781 Yig oscillator repaired
« on: March 27, 2019, 01:40:51 am »
Hello,

I really need a HP 5086-7781 Yig oscillator.  If anyone knows where to get a reasonable deal on one please let me know.  Or, does anyone know a quality service (experienced) that can perform the repairs on my source?   I can send my bad one out and have it repaired, but not sure who does the correct wire bonding procedure to replace the often failing output GaSFet or whatever type device is used.  I have a really nice 22Ghz analyzer with very low hours (looks like new) that just died and I really feel this one needs another chance.  Thank you in advance.

Here are a couple of people I have found in the past who repair. Not used myself:

He has a Yahoo Group about wire bonding too:

Hello Henderog,

Yes I have seen this article, has a lot of good information regarding the various issues associated with those 859x machines.  I am the one who posted the microscopic photos of a YIG in the Repairs section last week.  I have another source from a 8592L analyzer and tested my 8563A and find it works just fine with that one.  Before I made these test, I determined interface & drive compatibility which all was found good.  I experienced the typical LO Out of lock condition but that was expected since I had not set the lower base  frequency using that different yig.  I didn't want to upset the current setpoints for the correct part knowing I will have to calibrate the entire system when running again.  I have also built up a test interface which I can exercise the yig with and gently sweep the frequency using a ramp signal on the main coil.  Works as expected.  I am going to make an attempt to contact Lous and see if he can help me out.  I have been following his fantastic published material on qsl.net.  Looks good!
Thank you for the leads

Someone on the HPAK mailing list on groups.io might have one laying round...might be worth a look.
