So I want to build the infamous thirdhand++.
I've allways been disappointed with my current third hand. The distributors mentioned there just sell to US and Canadian customers.
Ebay sellers boast quite substantial shipping fees.

So my question is now:
Do you distributors for 1/4" coolant hoses/nozzles based in the EU (ideally in Germany or Austria)?

I don't think it's worth more than 10,- € though.

Someone is selling this with a small magnetic stand. I like the Idea of a magnetic stand but then I'd get two of them to place on my desk as I please. Also these particular one are incredibly overpriced at $65 (incl. shipping to EU, $40 without).

Why not just search on ebay.de for the german translation "kühlmittelschlauch"?

Gives a nice list of sellers.

Yes but I'm not gonna pay 10 € plus 10,90 € shipping for 26 cm of length.

Any machine tool supplier would stock that. As would most industrial tool suppliers and here in the UK many nut and bolt suppliers will also sell such stuff.

Thank you all. I ordered this one. It's not ideal though because 3/8" rather than 1/4". However it should do just fine and not too bulky.

The SparkFun-Kit is out of stock and overpriced - as with everything sparkfun.

In the same way that even the most reasonable mechanic is overpriced if you are one yourself....

I personally like Sparkfun a lot, if only because of their ethos and how they go about things. The world needs more 'sparkfuns' IMO.

So mine, finally came (took forever). The truth is: they are just to damn big. Shrink them by a factor of two or three and it would work. Unfortunately I found no source on ebay that sells them in smaller size = diameter. I'd need the 1/8" but no way to get them cheap anywhere in Europe. Any ideas?

Sparkfun sells these.

You would probably have been better off buying the 'overpriced' sparkfun one than wasting your time and money sourcing incorrect parts. (The complete one may be out of stock but the coolant hose and other parts are in stock.)

I'm still not sure why people don't just walk in to a store and buy them... they're even more common than cnc mills/lathes.

Maybe where you come from. But were I live we hardly have any stores within 150 miles that sell the right 1/8" size. But you're welcome to proof me wrong.

you don't have a listed country so all we/I can do is speculate. even my <20k population hometown on the edge of the arctic circle in Canada has similar coolant tubes.

Out of curiosity, what kind of shop would I look in to find them? They are too specialized to find in a typical hardware store like Home Depot. Maybe in Sears' tool department? Harbor Freight Tools? (Though I don't recall seeing anything like that in there.)

Uh, my old sensei owns this sort of super equipment supply store. They have bobcats (about the size of ford escape, often used for clearing snow), small bulldozers (the ones just a little larger than an 18-wheeler cab), those Genie lifts, smallish CNC stuff (about the size of a truck) and a bunch of mining equipment that I couldn't identify.

it's basically the last major stop before you go to the mines etc so they're sort of the equipment walmart as well as a major construction equipment supplier.

Industrial supply or welding supply stores.
