isolation transformers-price?
« on: June 04, 2013, 04:54:49 pm »
well, topic says pretty much it all, i'm embarrased to admit but i dont know what would be good price to sell these things, hang me if necessary :D. But, i got the following isolation transformers in: 220v/50hz out: 2x 1:1, and 1x20v. Yes i measured that it indeed gives 2x230v out when feeding in 230v in. i know these are quite expensive, but i don't want to overdo it, neither give them practically free.....price range is probadly around 200-400€? opinions welcome!

Here's one from RS components 1500VA (and this one is expensive!), notice it weighs 11.5kg so yours must have less copper/less power or its not rated for continuous duty

Although I'm not an expert on this, that sounds way too light for a 2.1 KVA rated transformer.  ???

Here photo of my 1 KVA rated iso-trans with Eneloop AA as size comparison, and it's weight slightly above 12 Kg, and I did weight it my self. Its designed for 220-240 Volt mains. Are yours about this size ?

They're so cheap in the UK because every (?) contractor on a building site has to have one, so the demand is high wich in turn lets prices drop.
I obviously don't know the exact rules & regulations that apply but AFAIK power tools on building sites over there have to run off an isolated 110V supply. Maybe there are exceptions where 240V isolation transformers are needed? I'm sure someone in the know could tell us.
