My PSU arrived today.
It's quite old and tired, in need of a clean, and the display is quite dim. That much doesn't surprise me, and although it's a shame it's not bright and shiny, it's not a problem. Converting it from 100V to 240V mains was dead easy, there's a wiring diagram in the service manual and it's just a case of swapping a few spade terminals around. Just don't forget!
It wasn't well packaged, though, just a layer of bubble wrap inside a cardboard box, which appears to have offered little or no protection in the post. There are quite a few small plastic bits that have broken off, which is really annoying because it's so completely unnecessary. The front panel knob was damaged too, though fortunately the design is such that it is actually possible to put the bits back together and bend its clips back into shape. It seems to work OK.
I'm too busy to actually load it up and test it out electrically, but it seems OK. The only things actually loose and rattling around were bits of broken plastic, and they're just cosmetic. The electronics inside were dusty but otherwise look fine.
I won't be buying another, though. (I guess five 663xB power supplies is enough for any one person's lab, right?)
