Got a Fluke 87 III from craigslist for $35
« on: August 09, 2012, 10:56:13 pm »
Hi all,

Think I got a rather good deal here. $35 for a used Fluke 87 3. So far I just set to ohms and probed the ma ua port @ 1k. Also continuity works ok. Other suggestions for testing to pop my bubble ?

Score!
It's very unlikely to be out of spec anywhere else if the 1K measures ok.
You really need another meter to compare to, or an absolute DC reference. Not hard to get a sample of a DC reference chip from the likes of Maxim or someone else.

Dave.

Good deal is an understatement. You got a great deal.  I'm jealous.

On my local kijiji, someone posted an ad yesterday asking $500 for a Simpson 260 and Fluke 77III.   :o

Lucky SOB! Spectacular would be a better description.

Fluke 87V sold for $33 on ebay today.  Seller sells mainly clothes/fashion items and probably didn't know that the Fluke 87V is the Prada of multimeters.
