I was toying with the idea of buying a Fluke 97 Scope meter on sale for US$ 100 from a local source. It did not have the charger and there was no way to test it at site. No probes and the yellow rubber cover was crumbling. The gray leather case was ok and the display seems intact. However, no guarantee that it will work. I wonder if I passed up a good deal. Any thoughts?

If you really must have an actual Scopemeter for, perhaps, a reminder of your youthful employment or because retro stuff turns you on, $100 would probably be a bad spend for this one.

I am fairly sure 4 "C" cells will fit where the battery pack normally fits for a test.

It is at a facility where I cannot take the cells and test it. I was
still wandering if it was worth. If it was, it takes less space in my limited tabletop. Why take a chance, I guess I will let it go.

I mean they're kinda neat, but I don't think I would spend that kind of money on something that old with a screen like that. Also if they won't even let you bring in some C cell batteries to test it that is absolutely their way of saying they know it's probably broken but just don't want you to prove it.
