maybe the a3  problems (ADC drift) or possible problems  rebute people     since you can not get a replacement board easily

i would be afraid to buy one, until tests have been done on a long period ??

- But since Brexit it has turned stupid to buy anything from the UK and
- Used test equipment has skyrocketed especially in the UK
This 3458A was an exception, if it is good.

This 3458A was an exception, if it is good.

Used TE in the UK has gone up due to dealers/traders & flippers, most of the bargains get found by them. There are also twats that buy up TE bargains, break it up and try to sell each PCB or part for more than the price they paid for the whole thing. 
The same is probably happening in most countries, the only bargains that are left are those that are collection only, this limits the number of traders that can be bothered.

It is indeed the same everywhere else. Sadly, merely buying and reselling later at an increased price, without any value added whatsoever, has become a valid business model. It is a pity because the market would be just better without them. It isn't only an "arguably net loss" it's just nothing but a loss for everyone but them. Scalping is just another way of trying to make others work so you don't have to.

Just to clarify, buying bulk, then checking and reselling small does add value.

It is probably part # 03458-60221 which Keysight sells (excl VAT) for US$ 730 (to "business customers").

I think they actually made a small change to the display window after introducting "the black edition" - it seems the latest display windows have the logo in red; the second newest windows - the first to be branded "Keysight" - have the logo in white, see: https://www.keysight.com/se/en/ecom/parts/part-detail.html/03458-49331

And of course, historically, there was the Agilent and hp-branded ones also. Sigh ... I have to shell out for the "red ones" (03458-49341) to keep current  .

Also, there is a new part number for the VFD display board (03458-66537), that has been released after the introduction of the black edition. When looking at the 3458A webpage I think they may have increased the character size somewhat, but it's hard to tell. Maybe there's someone in the know ...
