FS: Canada only Electronic components Pool
« on: February 22, 2017, 05:05:22 pm »
Hi all

I am offering my service in reselling genuine components sourced from DigiKey, Mouser and other legit suppliers. All you need is to compile a request for needed items and contact us via website form, email or skype. We accumulate orders and make the purchase at least once a week. We order more then you ask for to get different price band (for non exotic parts) and build reserve in case you need it later saving you some shelving space. Leftovers get listed as items in stock. There are a few pros in using our service:
- you don't need to pay full delivery and customs charges
- you don't need to buy bulk to get a better price
- we offer mix-and-match discount for similar typed components (you don't have to buy kits, containing items you will never need trying to save, simply build your own) taking advantage of the bulk purchase if needed
- we offer order based discounts
- free pick-up in Toronto (Ontario, Canada)
- very reasonable drop-off charges based on the distance from the distribution place (North York, Ontario, Canada)
- we offer store credit for making micro purchases possible (because there is a limit for minimum CAD4.99 purchase when paying online via PayPal), the more you top-up - the bigger the cash discount
- if the items are on hands - you can obtain them very fast and if we order for you - reasonably fast
- for every CAD10 you donate to the project, you will get CAD12 as a store credit during next 12 months as a Thank You
- we offer referral system

We also sell leftovers from EBay and AliExpress purchases. You will get exactly the same quality as you would buy yourself, but you don't have to wait for weeks if ever receiving the package  ;)

The item prices on the website do not reflect any discounts, you will get the reviewed order once you post it before paying anything.

We are still in process of adding new items onto the website, so contacting us may help you if you can't find something.

Please don't hesitate co contact us via Skype "ECPool Support", website "contact us page" or email sales at ecpool ca

Are you going to have Minicircuits in your list of suppliers?

It is a possibility. Everything is based on the item price. If it costs $100 - there is no sense for you to order through us. The main idea of the pool - to buy components which will be needed by someone else, not just you. Just send me PM and I will look into it. If, for example, you require some crazy exotic component we can put into a bigger order to split the cost - great, we can do it no questions asked, but if there is no order you can piggyback on - it makes not much sense, the price will be simply = cost + full delivery we paid for even if you simply come and pick it up for free.

I hope it helps.

Thank you

Added into original post information regarding referral system and store credits.

Also a little example from real life price quote through our pool:

if you wish to order part #RNMF14FTC680R in Qty of 20, our unit price would be CAD 0.086 each and after mix-and-match discount the total price for order before taxes and delivery would become CAD 1.50

If the order was placed by your friend and paid via store credit - you would get CAD 0.09 as a referral bonus. If your friend topped up the account prior to the purchase for CAD 10.00 - you would also get as a bonus CAD 0.49.

I hope it makes sense.

Looks too complicated of a game. It perhaps may make sense elsewhere , but Canada is a Mickey Mouse country. I doubt the potential of big crowd signing up, but wish you good luck anyway.

I've been to Toronto and Montreal several times and didn't get that impression at all. It's hardly Albania. Canadians can be a bit too hard on themselves sometimes.

It is not about a huge crowd. It is about giving everyone an opportunity to order quality parts with minimal risk. I personally quite often find myself missing a few parts for a next project. Ordering from ebay almost always quite a wait and quite often I was getting more than I needed if at all :( . Ordering online from a legit source is quite an attractive option, but looking at the prices for small quantities had a good cool-down effect and the cherry on the cake was the delivery :) I love quality tools. Using them takes my hobby to a next level. About parts and components - the same story. Predictability of the characteristics is worth a lot.  Ordering a Mickey Mouse ICs from internet had taught me a lesson a few times about wasting time and money (mostly time).

That's why I came up with this idea. It is not the main source of my income, but I am committed to fulfill my promises to my clients.

Thanks a lot for you wish of luck. Who knows, may be one day I will help you as well :)

I really wonder how well this will work for you. If I want a couple parts fast I can get them from Digikey, and the price for shipping is only $8.00 and I have it in 2 days. I am not sure how you will be able to beat this, maybe on pick up?

Yes, pick-up or drop-of would do :) . Also, if you place your order with us, let's say, 1-2 before we place our accumulated order - you get your two parts 1-2 days later than you would do it yourself, based on how post would work for you. If the parts you are ordering are not super exotic - very likely we will order them using next price break (depending on a few factors) and the price very likely will be a bit different in your favor.

The most important question you have to ask yourself here is how big part of your order is shipping and how really urgent you need it. If you are buying two MCUs $50 each - you will be much better of with DigiKey directly, if you order just a couple caps or diodes you need for your repair - different story. Just this weekend I found out that I need 3 pairs of resistors 2W for 6.8 Ohm and 8.5 Ohm :), so just 6 in total. Creatron did not have them, so drive was kind a waste of time :) Another off-the-shelf place Sayal did have 1W and I ended up buying there (yes, another drive and not quite what I needed). Where else would I get quantities like this in a reasonable time? Yes, when you just add them into your other order to piggyback - no problems :) But I did not need to buy on Saturday anything else. I guess you've got the idea :)

If your are picking up - I don't see any problems at all if you are coming for one 1c item :)

Thanks
