Budget scope Rigol DS1052E or something else ?

Is the Rigol DS1052E the best budget bang for buck hobby grade scope still or are there any others to consider ?
I will just be using it for hobby stuff like arduino or microphone audio amplifiers, general electronics etc.

Also where is the best place to buy above scope in the UK ?
don't really want to buy one from eBay encase of warranty issues.

If your budget will stretch to it, a DS1054Z is better value imo.

Yes, I agree. Save your money until you can afford the DS1054Z. There is no question except if you can pick one up used for $150.

The problem with many of the ebay sellers is that the warranty is still valid, BUT, its held by the originating selling country which is usually China,  even if supplied to you from an ebayers uk depot, so you have to return to China for repair.

The local Uk or EU main dealers will not look as such China unit, got that first hand after contacting them on that very point.

As you can see from Davys video the Rigol 1054Z is a worthy sucessor to the old 1052.

Trouble is its so popular many suppliers have a several weeks waiting list, so you will have to look around /check  to find someone with actual stock.

It is not listed as official Rigol distributor, but they are still selling the ds1054z for the old 299 eur price (plus vat)

I ordered one from them, and they told me I had to wait at least until the first June decade.
Might be worth sending them an email...
