I have a Japanese FR-300, runs just fine on NA voltage. It got the same heater part number as NA version.

I wonder if some of the price differences are due to the warranty?  If you import there is probably no warranty, but from Hakko USA it's 12 months typically.

This was a pretty good sale for me, I picked up some things I'd been planning to get and also some extras just because.  Heat guns for $8.72 and free shipping, nice...

I do not give a fuck about warranties. I imported bunch of tools from the US and saved lots of money. Warranty  is more pain in the ass then to repair or get a new tool. Ship to service, pay for delivery, wait for it shipped back, and stay without the tool while waiting. Not worth my time.

Edit: BTW none of the tools failed over the years. But I buy brand name stuff.

good, I bought one FR301 from Japan; and my previous is Hakko 808, the heating element exist 100V and 120V version, if you use the Japan version in US, may burnt soon.
