WTB: uCurrent Gold
« on: January 29, 2014, 08:41:47 pm »
Hi,

Im in need of a uCurrent Gold and that ASAP (do not want to wait until March). Missed the Kickstarter event and would like to buy one (or two) from someone who did not miss that chance.

Let me know what I need to pay to get one.

I think there are only 30 or so in existence at this point (the first-run, hand-signed units from the KS campaign).  The next run of 200 aren't supposed to be done until Feb, and the unwashed masses won't get them until March or later.  Chances are, the people that paid extra to get the hand-signed ones aren't going to be willing to sell for a reasonable price.

Have you considered building your own?

I built mine.

Well I have considered building it but since my company needs it and can pay for it its a bad investment of my time.

I was not aware though that there was only 30 built but ok then I understand why my inbox does not overflow with suggestions.  ;)

There's always the older version kicking around out there.

I am sure there are some guys out there that have the older version and also ordered the new one, who may be willing to part with the older one.

I'm probably going to keep using my "ye olde" uCurrent. I never did find out what was "better" about the uCurrent Gold (besides the slightly pointless gold-plated binding posts, I mean)...

The changes were listed on the Kickstarter page:
0.1% vs 0.5% on the mA range
0.05% vs 0.1% on the µA and nA ranges
300KHz bandwidth vs 8KHz bandwidth
+/-1.25A vs +/- 0.3A maximum current (& improved mA range burden voltage)
Shorting switch

I backed the new one and may be open to selling the old one to free up some space if somebody wants it now. Mine came from Dave himself (oh, the good ol' days :)).
PM me if you are interested
