**Found** Panasonic 30pin Simm (MN414100ASJ-07) PC Memory
« on: November 28, 2020, 04:23:35 am »
I'm looking to increase the memory in my 486 computer and I'm looking to match the memory that it already has.

I currently have four sticks in my PC but there is space for four more.

You may need to look through your pile of parts from the 1990's to find it :)

The part number MN414100ASJ-07 is for the nine individual 4 Mbit DRAM chis on the sim, not the SIMM itself.    :horse:

The 30 pin SIMM is a Goldstar GT-3009, which is 4 Mbyte (with parity) 70ns.  They are fairly rare as back in the day they were very expensive and had a very limited market as there wasn't much before Windows 95 that could make use of 16MB RAM, you had to fit them matched four at a time to 486 systems, and early Pentium era systems had 72 pin SIMM sockets, as did contemporaneous high end 486 systems.

You should check if your motherboard chipset actually supports 32MB RAM.  If you are unlucky, it may only allow 1MB SIMMS if all sockets are filled.  It would be a pity to fit another four and find your usable memory capacity has halved!  :wtf:

Google finds a few sellers but obviously, if any of our USA members has some they can let you have at 'mates rates' that would be preferable.

Thanks Ian.M!

I knew when looking for the this SIMM memory that I had to get deep into the details, like you said, 4MB, Fast Page Mode, 9-chip, Parity, 70nS and that's why I wanted to look specifically for what was originally installed on the board. Sure enough too, you can see the GT-3009 printed on the PC board above.

I have four of the 4MB Panasonic memory that came installed originally in bank 0.

This Socket 3 GA-486TA motherboard from 1993 has two SIMM banks (0 & 1) with four slots each:

I also read that the board will accept up to 128MB. The yellow dot represents the current configuration:

I'm looking for four identical 4MB sticks which would bring the board's total to 32MB.

Here are some other manufacturer's chips having the same specs:

Hyundai, HY514100J-70
NEC, 424100-70
Texas Instruments, TMS44100DJ-70
Hitachi, HM514100AS7
Motorola, MCM54100AN70
Toshiba, TC514100ASJ-70

If anyone has a set for sale that fit these parameters, let me know :-+
