WTB (NL/EU) GPIB to USB adapter (AR488 ?)
« on: June 01, 2024, 05:31:15 pm »
I'd like to connect my Keithley 192 to a computer (W10 or linux) something like a diy AR488 would do.
The 192 is currently my only gpib device and the gpib port on it is untested, therefore I'd like at least a working/tested adapter to eliminate one variable when getting this to work..
LAN connection would be nice bonus but is not a necessity at this time.

you  can build it your self or order blank pcb's    etc ...   just find the right arduinos  and program it ??

i know there is some ordereable pcb

and read the main project folder here at eevblog and possible variations ....   begin by the last pages  loll   and the 1st one give you tons of links  .....

Thanks, but as I've mentioned I'm hoping for someone to have a working spare adapter.
That way I may enjoy setting this up a little bit more (less  |O ), I also have zero arduino and GPIB experience  :palm:.

I can't reliably offer one of mine as I know I'll get delayed and leave you waiting, but let me make clear that if anyone wants to make and sell my design of an AR488 PCB (https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/yfUOmUzA) then it's fine with me. It's an open design and you can do what you like as long as it doesn't restrict anyone else's use.

I assume the same is true of WaveyDipole's code but i'd recommend you check with him.

@The Soulman It's really pretty easy to build that - you just solder a 32u4 arduino and a socket on a pcb, and program using the arduino suite which is also painless to learn. But I take your point about wanting a known-working interface when you're trying to set up another part of the system.

I have a genuine NI GPIB USB HS that will not be identified as a clone by NI MAX, and I would like to offer it for 62 CHF plus shipping from Switzerland (you can compute online in post.ch). +5 CHF (and heavier for probably a bit more expensive shipping) for you can get a 2m GPIB cable and optionally a raiser (181638-01) for working with machines with mechanically constrained interfaces.

No longer available for now. A friend at work borrowed it for use with a old R&S FSU with mysteriously broken LXI interface.

OP, I would definitely take up "ZRQ" on his offer of the NI adapter.  I recently acquired one myself, and that price he is offering it for is a really great deal for a piece of genuine NI hardware.
