FS: New in box old Tektronix Crt's
« on: May 26, 2019, 05:52:04 am »
I have 5 different Tek CRT's, I got then some years ago.
Most likely I will not ever need them and could use the space for other items.
I wanted to list them here first, to give the eevblog community first chance for them.

They are new in original box's, they were opened to inspect the tubes.
Listed by PN, model used in then comments.

154-0513-00
Tek 520A Vector scope.
Round face for NTSC

154-0513-03
Tek 521A/522A Vector scope
Round face PAL

154-0850-01
Tek 24xx series scopes
(2430/32/40/45/45A/45B/65)

154-0731-00
Tek 465B scope
For std model W/ SN below B060000

154-0841-00
Tek 7603 scope? I think
SN B34672 and up
According to note written in my 7603 service manual.

I'm not sure what these are worth.
Hard to find exact comparisons on the web.
Detailed pictures available on request.

A half a century ago HP had better electronics and Tektronix better glassware.

The sharp end of a scope is the tube.
To be precise the scope bandwidth is governed by the tube characteristics.

Waveform monitors tubes are probably irrelevant in these modern days of digitised video but a good analogue scope still carries some value.
Just how much hard to say but if You were to chase up the second hand scopes  for the tubes You have it might give You a clue as to what they are worth.

It is probably worth giving some thought to problems while in transit, and finding how people have successfully packaged them.

Try to make the packaging (1) crush proof and (2) shake proof. The former is obvious, but CRTs also have delicate internal components that can be damaged by ratting/shaking. Mesh expansion screens are an obvious weak point, but even welded connections can be broken.

Most carriers "won't" take glass, which ends up meaning they take no responsibility for damage.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span". Retort: "There is a substitute: skill+imagination. But you can buy span".
