11 reasons to buy from TopLoser
« on: February 25, 2014, 11:34:44 pm »
Forum user "TopLoser" was kind enough to take my money for Weller's WXMT and WXMP soldering tools. He delivered fast and his pricing was good. Here is what I found when I opened the package:

- The two tools, I purchased
- A tip cleaner
- 500g of soldering paste
- Cheap pair of multimeter probes
- Good pair of multimeter probes
- PicKit 3
- Microchip development board
- Project case
- Slightly bigger project case
- Proto board
- Heatshrink
- 12V supply

Thank you, TopLoser

I have purchased from him before, and he promised to "top off" the box with extra bits to bring it up to the maximum weight limit for the box size and shipping method used.  Unfortunately, what I bought from him actually reached that limit, so I didn't get any extra bits.  Good to see he wasn't making empty claims.  Good on ya, mate.

I will add as well that the description will agree with what comes, and the speed of service is quite good, even to the other half of the planet. Packing is good as well. Price and delivery charges are good, and there is no padding of postage at all.

I'm pretty sure he is a legitimate distributor of electronic test gear and components in the UK.  When he has returns for reasons other than non-functionality, he sells them on here.  At least that I what I have determined from his listings.

From what I've gathered, he works in, or heads, the returns department of a major European distributor (Newark if memory serves correct). Every now and then, he'll mention his desk or office has gotten too full and he needs to sell off some stuff. The stuff he sells I'm guessing it's a way to monetize the returns while also helping us a bit on price breaks.

He actually works out of his cave below his stately mansion in Buckinghamshire, he buys loads of equipment for his experiments and sells off the unused stuff. Complete man of mystery.

He actually works out of his cave below his stately mansion in Buckinghamshire, he buys loads of equipment for his experiments and sells off the unused stuff. Complete man of mystery.

He also has extensive caves under his mansion, natural home to many a kind of bat and flying fox. When he was a small child he fell into a well on the estate and thus discovered what lay underneath. A short time later his parents were killed by a non-isolated power supply leaving the opera early. Some joker had connected mains to the chassis. That's when he vowed to avenge them. Ever since he has roamed the world of electrons on a never-ending quest to provide quality at low prices. But the masked man that no one knows, he is not is not a hero, he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector, he's the dark light.

well, ill have to get the commissioner to shine the signal of a schematic over the city sometime.

all the free stuff if nice and all, but what caught my attention was the "cheap quality soldering station" thing. i keep putting off getting one.

seeing as there were a few replies from US users, im assuming shipping to the states is not an issue.

Just want to add my voice to this Toploser thread. Never had less than a complete bargain off him, the stuff gets here almost as soon as I've logged off the forum, and it's always very well packed. Amenable to a bit of negotiation too - what more could you ask for?

If only he hadn't already cleaned out my account I'd be in line for a couple of those bargain meters he's got going...

He is not a shop so you can only buy what he has in terms of customer returns and so on. It is normally as-new and fairly random - today he has just posted up a Keithley switch system for a bargain price but unless you're setting up an automated measuring system at home it is probably not that useful to the average hobbyist.

He generally posts the stuff he has for sale on this forum - but he is based in the UK so shipment costs to Australia may be significant (he only charges what it costs though and is willing to ship anywhere I think).

I bought a Keithley 2000 off him and am very happy with it and how quickly he shipped it.
