WTB [USA] Dead/junk 2" dia motor
« on: June 19, 2015, 06:41:56 pm »
I'm trying to reduce the amount of junk I have around my desk so I decided to build one of these while I go through it all (a little bigger actually, I'm using a 5.25 inch HDD).

Surprisingly, I've found that I don't have enough junk to finish it. I'm looking for something to make the main body below the nacelles - I've got the front part of the body done, I just need the part behind it. I'm looking for a motor, anywhere from 2" - 2.5" in diameter and about 4" long to complete the build. It doesn't matter if it is functional or not, as long as it is cheap. I'm looking for under $10 shipped.

Thanks!

sorry the lcd on the micrometer didnt turn out well in most photos. I added the measurement as a title/description though

ETA: i forgot about this old vacuum cleaner motor I have that is a bit larger than the first one. the metal shell is mushroom shaped though, but maybe you could modify it. Ive added pics in the imgur link

I don't think I'll need the internals - how long is just the motor shell on the 1st one?

its bang on 4 inches, but its made of plastic so I dont think it will have the aesthetic you are looking for. the plastic is also broken clean through on one end. (visible in photo)

I'm thinking just this part would be best - even hollowed out. It would be much easier to ship that way if you are fine with keeping the rest of the parts...

Im happy to ship it out, just keep in mind that it is made from plastic and the end piece is broken off. Check out the images in the album here

So, so sorry, I didn't realize that I didn't put the link in my post.
I meant this metal part

But seriously, thanks for going through so much trouble just to send me one part, I really appreciate it!

That's not a problem, I found an old drill that has a part just about the same size so I'll combine them
