[SOLD] Keysight U1282A used 10min - MINT - $400

Another classic impulse buy.
Saw it on ebay.com for cheap and got it home, but I always grab my BM869s if I need a portable DMM.
Time to let it go, come with IR USB port and brand new Keysight DMM probes.
Tested working, can't find any defect on it. It even still has the plastic foil on the display.

That is an extremely impressive multimeter, great accuracy and 60k count, and fast (for a handheld!) data logging over USB, and very long battery life. There's also a Bluetooth module that is worth buying for it; the mobile software is quite nice, it allows user-defined formulas (so you could plug in a thermistor formula for instance, to measure and chart temperature, or attach any other sensor and view measurements in real-time in the correct units). I found that module also handy for automotive use, for example crank the engine, and see the voltage dip/rise etc on the battery on a chart, on a mobile phone while sitting inside the car.

Minor negative: there are a ton of features, so many that it takes delving into the user manual to recall how to access them.

I'd want to buy that if I didn't already have one. To be honest, I'd rather sell all my other handheld meters and keep the U1282A.

It depends on the user needs AND personal taste... anyway I agree, Keysight has packed tons of features in this little box.

Apart from not being same color, it is not like you are company selling line of products with a "questionable design".
If they don't like colour, why they don't sue Keysight...

A few years back,  "they" took down  if i recall a Sparkfun skid of 2000x  ''yellow'' meters, it ignited a controversy,  and as a result they offered  real Flukes  to compensate ...

U1282A is a nice meter, I had one for a while. It's huge for a handheld, which is fine if you like big digit display and you have big hands! I switched to the U1272A, which IMHO is one of the best handhelds for an electronics engineer.

Lawyers of course. If we report a listing for keyword or brand-name spamming (or other reasons), the AI decision decides no policy has been violated & does nothing, hence I don't bother reporting anymore, ePay search is trying to replicate the mess known as sc-Amazon. 

Can they also take down yellow items that predate the trademark crap from Phluke?

I think other manufacturers should sue for dissolvement of trademark based on such basic physical property as color.

What is next? I think UNI-T or Brymen should register red rubber holster and sue Fluke for their Ex line of meters...
Then another manufacturer get smart and register use of all other color variations and sue everybody else.

How on earth was even possible for Fluke to register something like color.

Even if the U1282A would had a yellow border,  GO TO KEYSIGHT AND DO NOT BOTHER ME!
I did not smuggled a bucket of top secret/trademark super protected Fluke yellow color from the Fluke factory and painted all my USED handheld DMM before putting them on Ebay.

 

This story is disturbing at so many levels.

Who even made the first DMM with a yellow holster? I'm sure I have an analog ohmmeter with a yellow painted case from the 1950s, will these be unavailable on ePay if the Puke lawyers get their stupid way?

Beckman Industrial  had   yellow meters with a black rubber,  mostly the yellow case and yellow jacket,    cant recall its year  95 96 ?? became Wavetek,   Wavetek HD160 ...  at the time Fluke where white gray "ish" 80's  ,   the full black models ...

The HP 97xA series DMM are another that has a yellow holster, some Metrix DMM were yellow too, seems odd they were able to trademark a commonly used color for DMMs.

The colour of your meter does look like it is yellow. But yes, just saying yellow should be insufficient, We have pantone, RAL and many other colour systems for a reason.

I had a listing on amazon for the BM786 removed because it had mentioned the Fluke equivalent. I don't list on Amazon anymore at all anyway.

Don't forget we live in a democracy, every $ of your wealth has the same value as anyone else's.
