After a couple of years lurking at the Youtube channel I really needed to share how useful and entertaining this was.
I think I've watched almost 250 videos, approx 150 hours of real infotainment!
As a non native english speaker I can say I understand 95% of the sentences. The only thing that I learnt the hard way (??) was:
"jool" = "dual"
This drove me crazy for a while.
I'm not involved in electronics but I've got a STEM background (engineer brother, spent my childhood in taking apart stuff to look inside).
So this is pure juice for me!
Sorry to see that italians viewers are a handful...
I think I've never seen a single mailbag from Italy! And yes... mailbag it's my favorite segment!
My wet dream is to see my second hand SGI Octane II being torn apart in a dedicated video but...
Weighs 25 kg, shipping it to Australia would open a small hole in the ozone layer!!!!
Also, this would open a small hole in my bank account.
Shall I write down a list of the reasons I got mesmerized from Dave's content?
1) no bumpers, no music, no logos, no mid-video ads (Linus style)
2) no fancy photography and lighting that makes videos look all the same
3) no script
4) no secret agenda
5) number of video plays or populartity is not the author's only drive
6) earns money in a sane way (selling top notch equipment)
7) is mentally and phisically healthty -> encourages healthy lifestyle
lives in a clean and safe environment (except from spiders, crocodiles, etc.) -> makes me want to travel
9) teach something I find extremely useful in a really palatable way
10) never "get dirt" with politics and other "divide et impera" stuff
11) intellectual honesty
12) sense of humour
Ok... one day maybe I'll post a "cahier des doléances" paper. At the moment I can't find any reason to stop watching this great content!
That's about it. Cheers from Rome, Italy.
