For the difference between the 2 chips I would expect details in the parameters, like the maximim current or voltage limits for a different battery size or chemistry or priority. So the difference may matter.
Usually the datasheets will tell what codes are printed to the chips. This could be relevant for the details, like the 2 (maybe more) variants.
Another way to find a chip is a database of the SMD chip codes.
The google search tends to remember past results. So first finding and clicking the right search result may have brought it high in the ranking for the following search. So without the earlier search with more keywords the same file may not show up that early with the simpler search.
