This thread is in response to a
Twitter post Dave made today.
Dave, what do you think about releasing all episodes on Bluray disc? Not anything fancy with menus and such, but literally a dump of files burnt to a BD (or three). I'm not suggesting give it away for free, but throw it up on your store for fans to purchase should they wish to support you in this way. Maybe split them up by year going all the way back to the first episode?
If there is a huge demand for it, rather than burning them yourself, send a master off to a disc duplication company to produce the discs for you. For a single BD-25 disc with full colour print and UV gloss on the disc itself, supplied with case, you're looking at about $5.60 per disc in quantities of 100 discs from
Implant Media. Yes, you can shop around but these guys have a really nice online quotation/ordering system.
Hell, if I could own the complete series (to-date) of EEVblog, I'd certainly pay for it! I did try downloading them all from Youtube, but it just took up too much room on my NAS. The only thing you might need to do is re-compress them into a more suitable format/file size, but a lot of programs allow you to run that sort of thing in batches. (Maybe one day they might end up in the
National Film and Sound Archive)
