Dave takes you on a highlights tour through the first Sydney Mini Maker Faire at the Powerhouse Museum.
This is the overview video, more will follow with behind the scenes stuff and extended interviews.

He's right about the show being a bit of a rabbit warren, I saw stalls in that video that I missed on the day.

I only found a decent chunk of the show because I know R&D had a stall and went trying to find it.

It was a great faire. I turned up with my family dead on 10am and the entrance was packed...

I really liked the mix of technologies on display, from electronics to DNA and space balloons (still feel sorry for John who got quizzed by my youngest on exactly what animals could be floated into space... have to keep an eye on our chickens..).

Also liked the Freetronics stand and the range of parts on display. Also had a chance to chat with Jonathan Oxer, wow! I'm now inspired to 'Arduino' (can you use it as a verb?) my irrigation control.. He also signed an Arduino book for my youngest (doesn't have time for this writing lark).

Although what I really liked was the degree of interactivity that was permitted - my two boys were trying out everything going.

But the real plus for me was my wife, who is about as untechie they come (can kill a laptop at 50 paces), actually enjoyed it.

Looking forward to the next one already..

That must have been a blast for Sagan! I was laughing at the headless R2D2 robot and the LED flashing tie worn by the Segway copy guy!

If there is a Maker Faire in England, I will make the effort to go.

The official Maker Faire UK will take place in Newcastle from 26th to 27th April 2014:

There's a global list of upcoming Faires here: http://makerfaire.com/map/

Unfortunately you have just missed the Derby Mini Maker Faire, which was on Saturday (23rd).

He was wearing an Adafruit Amplitie.
