Could someone educate me on the benefit of the Bitcoin USB stick wallet, with its "punch out a component to release the private key" concept?
Seems to me that, if someone finds or steals my "wallet", I am out of luck anyway. What am I missing? What additional level of protection is awarded by the punch-out idea? Thanks!
EDIT: Ah, I kind-of-see now. The thing is meant to be given away, traded or whatever, and the recipient is meant to trust the fact that no-one has read the private key yet, and that hence the opendime will hold its value:
