True. Radio people (eg at least some of the above) have organised themselves into clubs for over 100 years so there's potential for others to know of their achievements and nominate them.
There were a lot of computer & CB radio clubs in the '70s and '80s but most seem to have died.
Judging from old electronics magazines there were hardly ever any high-profile electronics hobbyist clubs - possibly until the advent of hackerspaces in recent times.
