Is the SAE standard applicable for all EVs
« on: August 05, 2024, 07:44:54 am »
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAE_J1772

In the above link, is this standard applicable for 2-wheeler EVs or 4-wheeler EVs?

It just mentions that the SAE J1772 is applicable for EVs in general. Doesn't mention 2-wheelers or 4-wheelers.

Also, the Control pilot signalling is for 4-wheeler automobiles alone?

Of course it is applicable to anything with any number of wheels, including a portable washing machine if manufacturers wants to build that.

But in practice many cheap, low battery capacity e-scooters and such are instead equipped with the bog standard power plug of the country where they are sold, to be charged at home (and not with public EV charging infrastructure). Higher end motorcycles and such would of course use the SAE standard plug.
