What is this USB connector?
« on: September 16, 2024, 07:47:11 am »
Hello, does anyone know what this connector is (what part number), and whether it's possible to order them from a store like Mouser? I know it's an automotive USB connector because I found it on a cable that was salvaged from a Suzuki car, and it was used to connect the car stereo with the front panel USB port. The cable itself looks like a high-quality shielded USB cable from Belden, and there are two slightly different connectors on each side (blue and brown). The blue one fits into the front USB adapter, and the brown one fits into the stereo unit.

yes it is usb cable,   you can do  some cheap one with 0.1" idc connector,

there was some  in nissan car too on Ali,  but the ident notch(s) near the latch and bottom where not the same, i had to do some magic
some used them  but cutted out the usb end  to fit the pins to a new usb plug, because compatibility is not assured with suzuki

you have this cheap one too   less $$$ than suzuki  loll

https://www.aliexpress.com/i/1005003137826612.html

at this price, it's a no brainer, i paid more than that, to fit the suzuki infotainment in a 2006 2007 Grand vitara ... the main plug is ok,  but the options not

antenna is Fakra connector  code C    i think

jasonquin: Oh my goodness, you're right! It is in fact GT17HN. Now that I look at it, it has this engraved on it side, and it looks exactly like the one.
And it's on Mouser, too: https://eu.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Hirose-Connector/GT17HN-4DS-5CF?qs=vnk2wBG9e15LdyjWXkZ9Nw%3D%3D
I can now order this from parts on Mouser and make my own cable assembly for a fraction of the Suzuki price (60+ EUR)!

EDIT: Connector assembly parts list:
  • GT17HNS-4DS-HU, outer enclosure, 2 pcs
  • GT17HNS-4DS-5CF, metal frame, 2 pcs
  • GT17HN-4DS-2C(A), plastic insert A-key (brown), 1 pcs
  • GT17HN-4DS-2C(C), plastic insert C-key (blue), 1 pcs
  • GT8-2428SCF(70), crimp terminals, 8 pcs
  • Belden E357312-S, USB cable, 50cm ??

Hmm, the original part USB cable says the following, but I can't seem to find anything with this ID on the internet:
Belden E357312-S 1PR28 2C20 SHIELDED USB2.0 5U AWM STYLE 2725 80C ...

The cable is clearly a USB cable - it has 4 wires - red, black, green and white. The power wires (red/black) are much thicker than the data ones (green/white).
The only thing that Google returns on E357312-S is some Belden CAT6 ethernet cable, but that can't be it. Maybe I can use a different cable/manufacturer in the assembly.

dont worry  any good 4 wires plus shield  is okay,  the shield is most of the time connected to ground,  unless the connector as a metal shield who covers the plug, and once connected it will be grounded

the belden E357312   specs  attached file ...  they say 5 conductors ??
1.yellow2.green 3.red 4.black 5.white

BELDEN E357312-S   5C26 AWM    STYLE 2464
