What does this symbol mean ? (car schematics) [solved]
« on: January 29, 2023, 04:14:23 pm »
I was looking at car schematics (related to the ECU) and saw this symbol (red arrow) :

This is used for sensors (eg: G40 - Camshaft Position Hall Sensor or G28 - Engine Speed).

The brown wire is ground, red is VCC and green is connect to the ECU.
Some other sensor like G247 (Fuel pressure sensor) or G581 (Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor) does not have that symbol.

This is used for sensors (eg: G40 - Camshaft Position Hall Sensor or G28 - Engine Speed).

Base on this, it's a magnetic Hall effect position or speed sensor. The circle with the small square you're pointing to would represent a magnet mounted on a shaft or wheel. The transistor symbol would represent the Hall effect sensor itself.

I would say the same

for sure it's an sensor  since you have a transistor as receiver / sensor isolated side
