Unused D+ D- on USB
« on: April 07, 2013, 04:22:38 am »
If i use USB as a source of 5v, can I just leave the D+ and D- floating? What happens if this is connected to a computer?

Short answer: Yes, you can, and nothing happens.

Long answer: Read the USB spec if you're not just doing this on your own computer.

I always leave provision for a terminating / id# resistor. Never had to use it and most systems don't bother checking for it,
but you need to be aware of it !! The specs explain what the values mean.
Hello <tap> <tap> .. is this thing on?

The USB specs are actually quite readable. Much better than ISO's standards at least...
