Different values on SMD capacitor
« on: December 11, 2020, 02:33:48 pm »
can someone help with this issue
I'm trying to replace three components on a board, 2 capacitors and 1 resistor,
I am using a BSIDE tester to identify and test, I don't have much faith in this device for accurate readings
I removed the same components from an identical board,
the capacitors are of 0805 type with no markings, beige in colour,
when i measure the value i get 220nf esr 3.5oHms , if i turn the smd around and measure again i get 37pf with no esr reading. which reading is correct, and what value capacitor do i replace it with.

the resistor gives me different readings also unmarked and grey in colour, i get a reading between 0.38 on BSIDE and 0.5 oHms on a regular multi-tester, again do i replace with a 0.5 resistor. .
Thanks

How did you determine that it is a resistor / capacitor? The top arrow indicates inductance (according to the markings on the PCB), the second (bottom) indicates the capacitor. Are you sure you have correctly identified the component type? Perhaps this led to the incorrect definition of values.
