Level 4 Qualifications
« on: May 24, 2013, 01:10:41 pm »
Is it possible to get a start in the industry with a HNC style Level 4 qualification?

I realise this is a technician level course and not a full degree. Is it enough or would you need a full HNC to be job ready?

No level of study will make you 'job ready'.

You may use it to get an interview but that is about it. I have an HNC and I'm now working in electronics design, and it wasn't too hard to do. The best thing you can have is a real interest and dare i say it, 'passion' for it.

You mention a HNC 'style' qualification - are you referring to anything in particular?

I'm having problems securing the finance to finish my BEng (a health condition forced a prolonged absence in my second year)

The local college do a 36 week HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering that I should walk through. It's a certificate and something to show for my work if Student Finance don't play ball.
