Master SPI to nonSPI slave.

Hello all
I am trying to connect LPC1114
http://www.nxp.com/documents/user_manual/UM10398.pdf
to this LCD
https://www.maritex.com.pl/media/uploads/PRODUKTY_PDF/con/LGMTG12864R6PFLW.pdf
I decided to use serial interface of the LCD. Knowing the time characteristics:
I decided to use SPI interface on the LPC1114 (MOSI to SI, SCK to SCL and MISO and SS unconnected plus three other connections to control A0, RES and CS1). Anyway it is not working. I know that the LCD does not have SPI controller but in my opinion it should work.
Am I missing something? Do you think it is possible to control nonSPI slave with SPI master? Or maybe I messed something else up and that's why it is not working?

A logic analyzer such as the Saleae 8 (original or a clone from ebay) will allow you to see what's really going on there.
