Making my own own analog RGB cable
« on: June 01, 2014, 03:45:47 pm »
I'd like to make my own RGB cable for my Sega Master System. It goes from an 8 pin DIN to 4 BNC and 2 RCA. I can't directly solder 4 coaxial cables directly to the DIN connector as the cables are too bulky. What's the best way to solder all those cables to the DIN plug without introducing a lot of noise or interference to the signal?

Kill a cheap VGA cable and use the 3 shielded inner cables for the RGB and leave the other 2 to use the outer shield. That should be thin enough to fit in the connector if you use a thin cable, and the other end can go into a bigger box to joint to either BNC and RCA sockets or just to join to thicker shielded cables.

Use smaller coaxial cable.  You may have to get a consumer RGB cable and chop the RCA connectors off the Sega end.
