Programming Help for EPROM Chip
« on: February 05, 2018, 06:25:02 pm »
Hello EEVblog,

I have this EPROM chip (M27C2001-12C1 Datasheet) along with this programmer I purchased from eBay; I haven't had any success in getting the FlashCat USB software to recognize my chip. I believe the problem is that the FlashCat only supports up to 5V and the programming voltage of my chip is 12V. Does anyone know of a USB programmer and software that is compatible with my chip. I appreciate any kind of information/help I can get.

:D Thanks! :D

I didn't see that 27c device listed on the supported device list.. mfg says it's open to questions about other devices..

I will probably return the programmer I ordered as it only supports up to 5V and the programming voltage of my chip is over 12V. Although I have emailed the mfg of the programmer for more help.

Ask them and maybe they support some off-board charge pump to give you the gated 12.25v. Can't hurt.

Got a reply back and they did not have a 12V programmer, they did refer me to a compatible chip but that was 5V. My main board supplies 12V so changing the chip wouldn't work.

EmbeddedComputers's DIP32, PLCC32 and SO44 adapters all have "12V" switches to enable a ST662AC (5V to 12V charge pump) in order to program 12V EPROM devices. The M27C2001 is supported, but not automatically detected. You need to go to the settings window, the last option to select it from the OTP EPROM (series 27) devices. Then set the Mode to EPROM. Now you can read the device and program it as needed.
