Connector jack audio
« on: September 06, 2023, 02:45:15 pm »
Hello, I tried to replace the jack connector on a PCB, but a pad came off, the D6

When plugging in the headphones I have nothing in the headphones and the sound continues to come out of the speakers, do you think it comes from that or are there several types of audio jacks?

Thanks

There are many, many types of audio jacks. Some of that is to allow for the many different types of plug insertion detection circuits. Without carefully matching the jack type, you may have inadvertently disabled plug insertion detection.

With that said, it's usually enough to exactly match a jack with the same number of pins and bridges between them.

Do you have any pictures of the original jack?

Indeed, do you know how I could replace or modify this connector? For the original jack connector it is necessary to order it in batch

It probably needs a connector with a normally-closed contact in the 2nd ring.
You can see how each side has a trace. One of them is the detection.
When you insert the jack, the contact opens.

D6 is a name of the component, the pad that came off looks like no contact -- hence the reason it came off.  :box:

But really, make some better pics. Don't just photo your screen, take pictures with your microscope camera from both sides and post them here.

Also. Take old connector and new one, and measure things. Stick male part of connector into it and see if it all checks out just like on old one. You gotta make sure it matches. Can't help it using pics online here. Physically remove the new one, compare it to the old one, use continuing mode to check that all contacts are same as on old one.

Post the board in better quality from both sides.

P.S. This looks interesting, but I can't tell what it is from your photos
