Surge Protector´s circuit breaker or a dedicated one
« on: December 06, 2016, 08:02:02 pm »
Hi guys,
i´m plannig of buying two surge protectors, one for each of my 10A outlets. The Belkin surge protectors i was looking do have a circuit breaker incorporated.
Do you think those built-in circuit breakers are good enough or do you think it´s better to add a dedicated 25A circuit breaker in front of the 2 outlets?
Thanks.

Many of those surge protectors come with a circuit breaker. I guess this is to protect against a MOV getting shorted after a big surge.

Installing a second circuit breaker would be an overkill. In any case, the wall outlet should be protected by a breaker in the electrical panel and that should be more than enough.

Thanks fubar, that´s what i thought.
I´m just trying to adopt some safety measures, although i won´t work with high voltages, just notebook and TV repairs.
