Just a small post to tell how I manage to blow my $20 ESR meter
I was testing a diode in a PSU. It was late, I was distracted and forgot to remove the tester hooks before switching on the PSU.
There was a small bang!, a cloud of smoke and off was my meter.
Two traces were black, but fortunately the traces were not cut.
All the enamel was gone though.
The atmega328 was dead, but as I had it on a zif socket, it just took me 10 seconds to plug it the other one I had. And its working again as new. This does not mean that ones wishes to do that everyday.
