Magnify viewfinder for using as screen
« on: September 01, 2023, 03:18:06 pm »
Hi.
I want to find a way to optically magnify EVFs, so I can use them as screens.
Upon searching, there are tons of lens that do the opposite - convert screens to EVFs, which is useless to me.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

All EVF's already have the optical magnifier (the eye piece).

This is likely impractical. You could, of course, use a lens to project the EVF image onto a screen. But, as a result of the magnification, it would be too dim to be useful in most environments (and EVFs aren't usually very bright to start with).

You could conceivably build a very large (=very expensive) eye-piece with a high magnification that can be used at a distance. But unlike a screen it would have a very narrow viewing angle.

This trade-off is fundamental (energy conservation). There is no way to have magnification and preserve both brightness and viewing angle with a passive optical system.
